We publish articles, guides, code samples, checklists and tools on hiddlins.com to help businesses and developers build better websites. We work hard to make that material accurate and useful, but it is general information, not advice tailored to your situation. This Disclaimer explains the limits of what we publish and how you should use it. It applies to all content on the website operated by Hiddlins (“Hiddlins”, “we”, “us” or “our”). Last updated: October 14, 2026.
General information only#
The content on this website, including blog articles, service descriptions, the project cost calculator on our pricing page, FAQs and downloadable resources, is provided for general information purposes. It is written to be broadly applicable, and every website, business and technical environment is different.
Reading our content does not create a client relationship between you and Hiddlins. A client relationship exists only when you order a service or accept a written proposal under our Terms & Conditions. Until then, we have no knowledge of the details of your website, your hosting, your business goals or your legal obligations, and our content cannot take them into account.
Estimates from the pricing calculator are indicative ranges based on typical projects. They are not quotes, offers or guarantees of final cost. A binding price is given only in a written proposal after we understand your requirements.
No legal, financial or other professional advice#
We are web developers and designers. We regularly write about topics that touch on law and regulation, such as privacy, cookie consent, accessibility standards and e-commerce, because they affect how websites are built. However:
- We are not lawyers. Nothing on this website is legal advice. Articles that discuss the GDPR, the CCPA, cookie laws, accessibility legislation, copyright or consumer protection rules explain how those topics affect web development in general terms. For advice on your specific legal obligations, consult a qualified lawyer in your jurisdiction.
- We are not financial, tax or accounting advisers. Discussions of project budgets, hosting costs, return on investment or e-commerce pricing are illustrative only. Seek advice from a qualified professional before making financial decisions.
- We are not security auditors certifying your systems. Our security articles, such as our WordPress security hardening checklist, describe widely recommended practices. Following them reduces risk but does not make any website immune to attack, and they are not a substitute for a professional assessment of your systems.
Even when we build a feature for a client that supports compliance, such as a cookie consent banner or accessible forms, the client remains responsible for deciding how the law applies to their business and for their website’s legal content.
Technical content and code samples#
Many of our articles include code snippets, configuration examples, command-line instructions and tutorials, for example on modern PHP, vanilla JavaScript or canvas animation. Unless stated otherwise, these code samples are provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement.
Before you use our code#
- Read and understand any code before running it. Do not paste commands into a production server without knowing what they do.
- Test on a staging or development environment first, never directly on a live site.
- Take a full backup of your files and database before making changes.
- Check compatibility with your versions of PHP, WordPress, WooCommerce, plugins, browsers and hosting environment.
- Review code for security, especially input validation, output escaping, authentication and permissions, before deploying it.
Code samples are simplified to illustrate a concept and may omit error handling, security hardening, accessibility features or edge cases that production code needs. We are not liable for any loss of data, downtime, security incident or other damage arising from your use of code or instructions published on this website.
You may use short code snippets from our articles in your own projects, commercial or otherwise, without attribution, although a link back is always appreciated. Larger tutorials, full articles and our written explanations may not be republished without permission (see Copyright and fair use below).
Technology changes quickly#
Web standards, browser support, frameworks, WordPress and plugin features, search engine guidance and performance metrics change frequently. An article that was accurate when published may become outdated. We show publication or update dates on articles and revise important content periodically, but we cannot guarantee that every page reflects the latest version of every tool or standard. Where it matters, check the official documentation, such as MDN Web Docs or the relevant project’s own documentation.
Results are not guaranteed#
We describe what good web development can achieve: faster pages, better usability, cleaner technical SEO and more accessible interfaces. We cannot promise specific outcomes, because many of the factors involved are outside our control or anyone’s.
| Area | Why results cannot be guaranteed |
|---|---|
| Search engine rankings | Rankings are decided by search engines using algorithms that are not public and that change frequently. Competition, content quality, backlinks, domain history and user behaviour all play a part. No one can legitimately guarantee a particular position. |
| Visibility in AI search and answer engines | Whether AI-powered search features cite or mention a website depends on the systems operated by third parties and is not something any developer controls. |
| Performance and Core Web Vitals | Real-user metrics such as LCP, INP and CLS vary with visitors’ devices and networks, hosting, third-party scripts, content added after launch and future plugin updates. Lab scores and field data can differ. |
| Conversion rates and revenue | Sales depend on your products, pricing, marketing, market conditions and audience, as well as on the website itself. |
| Security | Hardening greatly reduces risk, but new vulnerabilities in software, hosting or third-party services are discovered regularly. No website is completely immune. |
| Accessibility conformance | We build to WCAG criteria, but content and features added after handover, or third-party components, can introduce new barriers. |
Any examples, benchmarks or thresholds we mention, such as Google’s published Core Web Vitals thresholds, are given for context and are not a promise of results for your website.
External links#
Our content links to third-party websites, such as standards bodies, official documentation and software vendors, because good references make articles more useful. We choose these links carefully and prefer authoritative, stable sources. However:
- we do not control external websites and are not responsible for their content, availability, accuracy, security or privacy practices;
- a link is not an endorsement of the linked organisation, its products or its views; and
- external pages may change or move after we link to them.
External links on our website open in a new tab. If you find a broken or inappropriate link, please let us know and we will review it.
Affiliate links and sponsorship#
We currently do not use affiliate links. When we mention or link to a product, plugin, hosting provider or service, we do not receive a commission if you buy it, and no company has paid us to mention it. Our recommendations reflect our own professional judgement and experience.
We do not publish sponsored posts. If that ever changes, any affiliate link or sponsored content will be clearly labelled where it appears, and this Disclaimer will be updated before such content is published.
Some products we mention offer free and paid versions, and we may use paid versions in our own work or recommend them to clients. That is a professional choice, not a commercial arrangement with the vendor.
Testimonials, reviews and portfolio work#
We do not publish fabricated testimonials, reviews, client names, statistics or case-study results. Any testimonial or review that appears on our website is from a genuine client, is published with that client’s permission and reflects their individual experience. Testimonials may be lightly edited for length or clarity, but never in a way that changes their meaning.
An individual client’s experience is not a guarantee that you will achieve the same results. Outcomes depend on each project’s scope, budget, content and market.
Work shown in our portfolio is described accurately. Where a portfolio item is a concept, demonstration or internal project rather than paid client work, we say so.
Errors and omissions#
We review our content carefully, but errors, typos, outdated information and omissions can happen. We make no representations or warranties about the completeness, accuracy, reliability or suitability of the information on this website. Prices, service descriptions and availability shown on the website may change without notice; the price and scope that apply to you are those confirmed in your order or written proposal.
If you spot a mistake, please tell us through our contact page. We correct factual errors promptly and, where a correction is significant, note it on the affected article in line with our Editorial Policy.
Copyright and fair use#
Unless otherwise stated, the articles, graphics, layout and other original content on this website are owned by Hiddlins and protected by copyright. You are welcome to:
- quote short extracts from our articles for commentary, criticism, news reporting, teaching or research, with a clear attribution and a link to the original page;
- share links to our pages on social media or in your own content; and
- use short code snippets as described above.
Please do not republish full articles, translate them for publication, or use our content to create competing resources without written permission.
Our own articles occasionally quote or refer to third-party material, such as standards text, documentation, logos or screenshots, for the purposes of commentary, criticism, education or review. We believe this is permitted as fair use under U.S. copyright law (17 U.S.C. §107) or fair dealing and similar exceptions in other jurisdictions, and we attribute sources wherever practical. Image sources are listed on our Image Credits page. If you own material that you believe is used improperly on our website, please contact us or follow our DMCA Policy, and we will review it promptly.
AI-assisted content transparency#
We believe readers deserve to know how content is made. As described in our Editorial Policy:
- We may use AI-assisted tools to help with research, outlining, drafting, editing, code review and proofreading.
- Every article is reviewed, fact-checked and edited by our team before publication, and a person at Hiddlins takes responsibility for what we publish.
- Technical claims, code samples and references to standards are checked against primary sources, such as official specifications and documentation, rather than taken from AI output.
- We do not use AI to fabricate testimonials, case studies, statistics, quotes or expert credentials.
- We do not enter clients’ confidential information or personal data into AI services that use inputs for model training.
Despite these safeguards, any content, however produced, can contain mistakes. The general limits set out in this Disclaimer apply equally to AI-assisted content.
Limitation of liability#
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Hiddlins will not be liable for any loss or damage, including indirect or consequential loss, loss of data, loss of profits or business interruption, arising from your use of, or reliance on, information, code or tools published on this website. Nothing in this Disclaimer limits liability that cannot be limited by law. Liability in relation to paid services is governed by our Terms & Conditions.
Changes to this Disclaimer#
We may update this Disclaimer as our website, services and practices evolve. The “last updated” date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. Your continued use of the website after a change means you accept the updated Disclaimer.
